The beginning of an entrepreneurial Erasmus+ in La Mancha

What seemed a dream at the beginning turned into a reality in the year 2016. Everything started with a group of youth thinking about the possibility of organizing a European project in Villarrubia de los Ojos, home to the youth association Rubeum. That’s how they started to think and elaborate a proposal for obtaining funding from the Erasmus+ programme.

The name of the project is Local Heritage as a tool for Entrepreneurship and was born with the main objective of transmitting the feeling of entrepreneurship and motivation to start their own projects to youth coming from different countries. Given that we are in a rural environment it was decided that a topic according to the project would be the local heritage, as it would be possible to show real examples to the participants.

After a summer full of planning work, the 1st of September 2016 arrived. The participants arrived to Villarrubia de los Ojos and were welcomed by the organizing team and the Spanish participants. That night, no one was conscious of the great experience that was going to happen yet. The Spanish welcomed the 15 new faces with a lot of excitement.

We picked up the participants to bring them to “La Blanquilla”, our loved rural house. From the first moment a great environment was created among all the participants. Ramona, Pedro and Coco together with the team in La Blanquilla received all the participants with a big dinner that was liven up by some name games and ice breakers.

The first day ended with a lot of motivation for starting at 100% the next day. From the project organization (Javier, Teo and Sandra) we started executing our first European project, new feelings and a lot of emotions for working with wonderful people that thrive to do things that are worth.

On the Spanish participants side (Andrés, J.J., Vanesa, Alberto and Noe), they showed from the first moment that were involved in the project and that wanted to work hard. It is very beautiful to see how they connected with the participants from other countries and gave everything in order to enjoy, learn and live an unforgettable experience.

Here end our first feelings during this youth exchange in Erasmus+. We think that this kind of project can be useful as a stimulus, not only for the society involved in it, but also for the economy and life of a village as Villarrubia de los Ojos.

We will continue giving words to our Erasmus+ experience in the next chapter. See you soon!
